Flats Craft - The Claw

Designed specifically to mimic various species of crabs, these crab components offer the fly tyer an ultra-realistic fly that is as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. Leave the material in its stock color or create any color scheme you desire since the material absorbs ink and paint very well. We highly recommend Copic markers for this purpose.

The material used to make these components is highly durable, flexible, and sinks slow. Tie on a crab component and then add the material of your choice as a carapace/shell, such as deer hair, flex tubing, or Fiddler Fibers. Add weighted eyes or bury some lead inside/underside the body for the desired sink rate. It’s the perfect choice to build life-like crab bodies that perform well in the water.
